WEDDING CAR HIRE IDEAS IN Hertfordshire

When it comes to choosing your wedding car, there are a lot of factors to consider. First, you need to decide what kind of car you want. Do you want a traditional limousine, or something more unique, such as a vintage car?

Once you've decided on the type of car, you need to think about the colour. White is always a popular choice for weddings, but you can also choose a colour that coordinates with your wedding theme or dress. Classic wedding cars are often white, as it represents purity, but you can also go for a more unique colour like pale blue or pink.

If you want your wedding car to really stand out, you can choose a bright colour like red or flamed orange. Just make sure that the colour you choose won't clash with your wedding colours. These sorts of colours are popular groomsmen vehicles, including supercars and other flashy sports cars.

After you've decided on the type and colour of the car, you need to think about the size. If you're planning on having a lot of people in your bridal party, you'll need a car that can accommodate everyone. You might opt for a stretch Hummer or a limousine, for example.

By contrast, if you're not planning on having a lot of people in your wedding party, you can choose a smaller car that fits you (the bride) and your father (or significant other) comfortably. A smaller car will also be easier to decorate and will reduce the price you pay for hire.

Or perhaps you want something that really stands out. Something you don't see on the roads every day. Perhaps a 1950s Cadillac or a 60s Mustang to give your wedding that added touch of uniqueness.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. If you’re still struggling to decide which Hertfordshire wedding vehicle is right for you, take a look at some of our top wedding car hire styles below:

VW Wedding Campervans – The Perfect Nostalgic Wedding Vehicles
There are few more emotive vehicles than that of the VW campervan. For over 50 years, they've been providing a sense of adventure and freedom that was born in the 1950s and blossomed in the swinging sixties. For those looking to add a touch of nostalgia to their nuptials, there's perhaps no better choice for your VW campervan wedding hire. But why are campervans so popular for weddings? How did this vehicle, in particular, develop such a cult following? To gain a better understanding, it's best to start with a quick history. The VW Campervan: A Brief HistoryContrary to popular belief, the VW campervan (also known as the VW bus, Kombi, Transporter, or Microbus) started life in 1950 almost over a decade before its heyday years. VW had secured traction in the automobile market with their Beetle. However, frustration grew as many customers desired a vehicle they could use for both pleasure and work purposes. The cramped design of the Beetle made it impossible for those requiring vehicles for commercial purposes to even consider purchasing one. With that in mind, VW engineers got to work designing a panel van in order to meet the growing demand. In 1950, the Volkswagen T1 Transporter (referred to as the 'Splitscreen' or 'Splitty') was created based upon a sketch by Dutch businessman, Ben Pon, following a visit to the Volkswagen factory. Pon was inspired by a parts-mover that he had seen during his visit, and rapidly sketched up an idea of how the VW Beetle could be developed into a commercial vehicle. The first iteration of the vehicle came with a split windshield and included multiple variations throughout the years before being eventually replaced by the T2 Transporter in 1967. The continuous evolution included changes to the Volkswagen air-cooled engine, the wheels, rear barn doors, cargo capacity, and the engine bay size. Sliding doors were added as an option from 1964, and the available colours became more striking as time wore on.Despite initial difficulty fulfilling orders due to the continued demand of the Beetle, the Transporter exploded in popularity once VW began to release a pioneering range of customisations. In the first ten years of production, the iterations included: the Panel Van, Microbus (7-seater and 9-seater versions), Samba, Kombi, Ambulance, Pick-Up and Double Cab.It was the aforementioned Samba variety that catapulted the humble VW Transporter in cultural folklore. The campervan version hit the spot for the growing number of young hippies (a loose term to denote a member of the youthful counter-culture of the sixties). It allowed workers to store tools and travel all week, before turning into an adventure vehicle for weekends, holidays, and music festivals. Comfortably sleeping wherever you parked up gave drivers a sense of freedom that forever changed the automotive industry.  For many, the campervan symbolised the new-found social liberties fought for by the hippie movement, after the social restraints of the post-war era. Many would even wear jewellery made up of the VW badge; such was the synonymous nature of the relationship between young free-spirited individuals and their vehicles. Over the intervening decades, there have been many facelifts and redesigns of the VW campervan, with the all-electric ID Buzz set to bring the design well and truly into the 21st century. But it's the early models (T1 and T2) that evoke the memories of an era of liberation and freedom, and so these are one of the most popular choices for wedding hire. Why Choose a VW Campervan for Your Wedding? Nostalgia First and foremost, you may be one of those hippies mentioned above who fell in love with the VW campervan all those years ago. Hiring one (or several) for your wedding is likely to give you an overwhelming sense of nostalgia that will prove difficult to beat. However, younger couples will still appreciate the internationally-recognised design that has become a global icon. There's certainly no better way to arrive if you're looking for retro wedding transport. You and your partner can sit in the back and remind yourself of what life was like when the Beatles and The Rolling Stones dominated the charts and split windscreens were still a thing! PracticalityAnother reason you may want to consider a VW wedding campervan as your wedding vehicle is because they offer a rare combination of style and practicality. These vans were created as commercial vehicles after all! There's usually room to seat at least six comfortably, which is perfect if your transporting groups such as the bridal party. By the same token, by booking multiple VW wedding campers, you can transport a sizeable number of individuals from the ceremony to the reception venue. Perfect for giving your most important guests a wedding transportation experience they'll never forget. SpaceVW campervans have large cabin spaces for guests, and perhaps one of the biggest when it comes to legroom. You might want to fulfil your desire for nostalgia without having to deal with the cramped cabins that older vehicles traditionally offer. On a similar note, a VW campervan allows you to decorate the vehicle to your tastes. With such a large canvas to work with, you can correspond with your vehicle owner to create a personalised space that will mean much more to you than a traditional "back seat of a car" wedding experience.  Peruse Our Unrivalled Range of VW CampervansAt Premier Carriage, we have perhaps the biggest selection of VW campervan wedding hire for you to choose from your wedding vehicle hire. Whether you prefer the earlier split-screen models of the sixties, or you yearn for the early-seventies baywindow variant, we have a model and colour scheme to match your tastes. Want to opt for nostalgia, but need more choice? With over 750 wedding cars and vehicles to choose from, you are sure to find something that matches your specific preferences whilst adding a touch of eccentricity to your special day. Tales from The Driving Seat
There’s no doubt that being a wedding car chauffeur for one of the most important days of your passenger’s lives can be a very rewarding experience. It can also be nerve racking, very stressful, sometimes comical, sometimes embarrassing, and nearly always emotional. As a Premier Carriage Chauffeur of Classic Rolls-Royce Wedding Cars for well over twenty years I have had the pleasure of experiencing it all. From the nobility, to the famous, nervous, happy, and the tearful. Then there’s the weddings you’ll never forget such as the sight-impaired bride walking down the aisle with her Labrador guide dog, or the bride with a huge dirty mark on her white wedding gown. Emotions are part and parcel of almost every wedding but as a professional you must always keep these in check. It’s no good having a chauffeur that bursts into tears! You must remain professional and supportive to your passengers at all times. So let’s take a look at the comical side of the job. I will share one of these tales with you, but no names.I’ll take you back almost 30 years to one of my first ever bookings as a chauffeur. The address in question was in Hampshire, so it didn’t take me long to arrive. Once I had pulled up outside the home, I knocked on the door and took a few steps back toward the car. The door swung open almost immediately and I was met with a very enthusiastic brother of the Bride. He immediately insisted that I come inside to wait for the bride. Now, even though I hadn’t been in the industry for very long, I knew that you were supposed to wait outside. Not only was it the professional thing to do, but it was an added layer of security for the £150,000 car I had arrived in. With that in mind, I made my excuses and very politely declined the offer, before returning to stand to attention outside the car in full uniform replete with hat and gloves.A few moments later, the brother of the bride appeared from the front door once more and approached me. This time his demeanour was a little different. He was speaking in bizarre hushed tones and became even more insistent that in order to fulfil my duties I simply had to come inside. I knew this not to be the case, and beginning to slightly panic, I repeated my previous lines about remaining with the car and declined the offer to come inside once more.As he trudged off back toward the house, all sorts of thoughts began to race through my head. Why was he so insistent that I should come in the house?  I was beginning to worry at the thought of the brother of the bride saying I was ruining the whole experience for his sister.Little did I know at the time that it would become apparent within the next few minutes why he was behaving in the manner he was.A few minutes after he had made his second request, the brother came out of the house. Trying to hide my panic, I stood steadfastly by the car as if I had carried out thousands of wedding journeys previously, ready to be the utmost professional and ready with more courteous apologies. When the brother reached me his tone had mercifully changed, and he simply asked if the bride could come outside and take some photos with the Rolls-Royce and myself before setting off.The relief must have been palpable. I could barely utter the words out to say that of course she could have some photos. I even made a slightly awkward joke about wondering why she would want a photo with an old curmudgeon like me. Fortunately, I was saved from embarrassment by the fact that he was already halfway back to the front door before I finished my audition for the local comedy club. The door finally sprang open and what I saw will stay with me forever. In my short time as a chauffeur I had never seen anything like it, nor have I seen anything like it since. As the bride stepped out of the front door, it became apparent that she had chosen the worst wedding dress I had ever laid eyes on and also ill-fitting beyond description to the point that she could barely walk in it, shuffle was the much more appropriate term.As she approached I smiled at the Bride and said good morning and that she looked stunning, as all true professionals would. The sad truth of it was that I was stunned by her appearance, but for all the wrong reasons. It was at this point that I began to take pity on her, this was perhaps a low-budget affair and maybe the dress was a hand-me-down. Either way I was determined to remain professional and support her in any way I could in my capacity as chauffeur. We began to get into position for the first photo and the bride positioned herself right next to me and the brother was slowly taking his position on the other side of her. The photographer was getting into position when I heard a loud tearing noise. My stomach immediately dropped. Had the edge of the bonnet caught her dress and torn it? Had it somehow got caught in the front grill and now the only way to get it back out was to ruin the dress completely? Had she damaged the car? This day was going from bad to catastrophic and I almost couldn’t bring myself to look.As I slowly turned to the left to pick up the pieces of my career as a professional chauffeur, I was greeted by a sight I’ll never forget. The dress was ruined all right. It was on the floor in its entirety and I found myself staring aghast at a bride that was completely without clothing save her bra, underwear and silk shoes. It was at this moment that the unmistakable sounds of camera shutters went off. Everyone except me immediately burst into laughter. I was in a state of utter shock and confusion, was this some kind of bad dream?A few seconds later it finally dawned on me. I had been the subject of a wedding day prank. The dress was a Velcro-backed homemade fake, and with one sharp pull by the brother the other side of her the whole thing came away. Today, somewhere in the Hampshire region, there’s a wedding album with a picture of a really shocked chauffeur with his mouth wide open, with horror etched on his face, looking at the bride with no clothes on. Looking back now, I think I had the last laugh by forcing her to perform her prank in plain view of the whole neighbourhood rather than in the privacy of her own home. Thankfully for her, the street was very quiet at the time. After composing myself for a few seconds, the bride rushed back into the house before appearing a few minutes later in the most beautiful of wedding gowns. This time she really did look stunning (for all the right reasons), and I was very proud to drive this young lady to her wedding. While weddings are always an emotional rollercoaster, I’m not sure that there were any emotions that I hadn’t experienced on that day! But as they say… it’s all part of the job.Michael Keene – Founder of Premier Carriage

5 Reasons You Should Get Wedding Insurance
The events of 2020 have demonstrated the importance of securing wedding insurance for your special day. Having to think what could go wrong on your wedding day may not sound like much fun, but it’s essential to take the necessary steps of covering yourself against any eventuality. With that in mind, here are some significant reasons for purchasing wedding insurance.Top 5 Reasons you should get a wedding insurance1. Cover Yourself Against Losing One of Life’s Most Expensive OutlaysIt’s useful to look at wedding insurance in the same way you look at other valuable life assets. Let’s say you just bought a costly item of jewellery. One of the first things you would do upon receiving the item would be to contact your home and contents insurer to protect it.So why wouldn’t you apply to the same concept to your wedding? The average spend for a wedding in the UK was £20,700 this year. Aside from a house deposit, this is likely one of the most significant financial purchases you’ll ever make, so it doesn’t make sense not to protect that investment.2. One Policy Provides Protection Across a Wide Range of ServicesEvery wedding has a multitude of component parts. From wedding car hire to the wedding cake, one policy can cover you against the threat of any of those components failing. While some items (such as the venue) will have more of a financial bearing than others, it makes sense to protect everything with an all-encompassing policy. Let’s look at some approximate costs below.Venue hire – £5,000Honeymoon – £4,500Food – £4,000Engagement ring – £2,500Drink – £2,000Wedding dress/outfits – £1,500Photography – £1,000Mini-moon – £1,000Video – £1,000Entertainment/music – £1,000Wedding car hire - £500Wedding cake - £250As you can see, even if only a couple of things go wrong, it can soon add up to a lot of money out of your pocket if you’re not covered.3. Wedding Insurance Policies Also Cover the Costs of RearrangementDepending on the level of cover you take out, your wedding insurance provider will also cover the costs associated with rearrangement. For example, let’s say you paid £5,000 for a wedding venue, which then experiences a disaster such as a fire or a flood. As a result, you have to move to an alternative venue that costs £2,000 more. The cancellation cover protects the initial £5,000 cost whilst the additional cost of rearrangement cover protects the extra £2,000 to move the wedding in the event of a valid claim.4. Wedding Insurance Provides Much More Protection Than a Credit CardOften those couples who proceed without wedding insurance cite the protection they receive from making deposits and purchases on a credit card in the event of cancellation. However, credit cards do not cover you in the event of public liability. The public liability element of wedding insurance covers accidental injury to third parties or accidental damage to third party property inflicted by you or your guests. In fact, many venues will now refuse to take couples who don’t have public liability cover of at least £2 million in place (including for their guests).5. Wedding Insurance Costs Are Minimal Compared to the Level of the CoverPerhaps one of the biggest reasons to buy wedding insurance is that it’s incredibly good value to do so. Cover can start for as little as £37.99 (June 2024 from "Cover My Wedding") for up to £5,000 worth of protection. For comprehensive cover that insures up to £50,000 of items, as well as providing £5 million in public liability insurance, you can expect to pay as little as £300.When you ask yourself if you would pay £300 to cover every conceivable eventuality on your special day, you’ll probably find it hard to say no. This is one of the most important days of your life; you don’t want to head into it worrying about what could go wrong. Just one small upfront payment could take care of everything.Protect Your Wedding Car Hire by Taking Out a Wedding Insurance PolicyWhile hiring a wedding car for your ceremony may not be the most significant outlay on your big day, it doesn’t make sense to pay for a service that you can’t use through no fault of your own. One straightforward payment can protect any of the costs associated with wedding car hire; therefore, it’s an investment that we recommend you make.If you would like advice on choosing the perfect car for your wedding, our expert team are on hand to help you pick a vehicle that’s right for you. Don’t hesitate to contact us today to have a member of staff take you through our extensive fleet of wedding vehicles.
